Hey Yo,
Lately, mix-wise, things have been a bit slow on the walrus front. However, im gonna increase my output in the next few weeks considering i have recently acquired some brand new amazing musics.
Until then, heres something to keep the fiends under wraps.
I recorded this mix towards the end of last year and i must admit, it is the favorite of all my mixes recorded to date. Have a listen if you have a spare 40mins.
I originally made it for my friend Vivandiere just before she embarked on a journey to Iceland.

SUBFM Businezzz – Enter the Morass Mix

YO cats!
A couple of weeks ago Megz from Adelaide hit me up for a mix for her and DJ EVN’s radio show, SWAGGA on SUBFM. Naturally I was stoked! SubFM has been a major player in digital dubstep radio and has been pushing the sounds of the bass movement for 6 years now.
Im not sure tho how much non-dubstep bass gets air on the radio so i thought i would keep the mix half beats and half dubstep. I kept it fairly dark and atmospheric to keep in the shows general theme, but i tried to mix it up a little. A lot of it is beat mixed to keep the rave vibe. Got some brand new sounds, unreleased shit and a few old favorites.
Alot of love given to the Brainfeeder click on this one as well as a beautiful new Jamie Vex’d tune from his Kuedo moniker. I found recent podcast Kuedo did for Resident Advisor for download here. Its a good one!
Also the name on everyones lips, Blue Daisy gets a mention. The guy has only been on the scene for a minute and he’s garnering some serious respect. He is combining a strongly textural new school production aesthetic with a revival of tribal house and old school broken beat rhythms via a contemporary beat context. Not to mention his bass is HEAVY. I found THIS for your listening pleasure!

Make an incision, Dr Limpf

I threw together this off-the-cuff mix after reading the recently published collaborative novel by William S Burroughs and Jack Kerouac. The book was written some time before both authors’ respective defining works Junky and On the Road, but has only seen the light of day now out of respect to the real life characters depicted in the manuscript. Bill and Jack take alternative chapters from the points of view of bartender and part time private detective Will Dennison (Burroughs) and merchant seaman Mike Ryko (Kerouac). It’s fascinating to see the nascent character types and motifs that would become prevalent in their later works. It’s like hearing an early but very polished demo.

2010 Mix Up.

Heyo,
Happy New Year to all first up! We are in for a big one this year. People are longing for a change in collective consciousness as the bass movement continues to direct the music world.
As an insight into some future sounds and a nostalgia for old favorites i mashed together some tunes that cover a portion of the spectrum of styles currently on the move. This mix is just a taste of the sounds you will hear at the next Dank Morass party, coming to ya’ll for the end of january. Keep your ears out more info soon.
